Krasnodar, 20 February – Yug Times. Sergei Galitsky, a known Kuban businessman, has left the post of general director of Magnit, a major national retail chain.
On 16 February, Mr. Galitsky announced that according to the agreement signed with an affiliate of the VTB bank, he would sell his 29,656,000 shares (29.1% of the total number of allotted shares) and would resign the office of General Director and member of the Board of Directors.
In their turn, VTB announced the purchase of the said 29.1% shares for the total amount of 138 billion roubles. The deal is subject to approval by the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service.
The new shareholder has announced that it will not change the tradename of the chain.
Commenting on the deal, Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev expressed hope that it will not affect the economic situation in the region, and the new owner will proceed with the company’s economic and social policy in the region.
In his turn, Mr. Galitsky announced that he wants to concentrate on his sports hobby — FC Krasnodar.
