Krasnodar, 7 March – Yug Times. In order to look into the future with confidence, modern civilization needs to review its principles of economic, environmental and social development, and unite forces to achieve common goals.
On March 2, the regional Civic Chamber, the Southern Regional Committee of the European Business Association (SRC EBA), the Agency for Investment and International Cooperation, and the Yug Times weekly held a conference entitled “Sustainable development of regions: synchronized activities of business, society and power.” The event was held in the framework of the target program “Time for New Strategies - 2018” sponsored by the Centre Invest Bank and Philip Morris Kuban.
— This issue is of great importance nowadays; it worries broad circles of the international community, — said Oleg Zharko, SRC EBA Chair, Danone Russia Corporate Director, who was moderating the conference. — Many programs devoted to sustainable development are being performed under the UN aegis. Many large corporations start thinking about the long-term prospects for our civilization and take concrete measures to make this future harmonious.
—The Kuban — 2030 Development Strategy, that has recently been launched in our region, is aimed at ensuring that the Krasnodar region is friendly for life and business, — stated Sergei Altukhov, Deputy Chair of the regional Legislative Assembly, Chair of the Committee on industry, investments, entrepreneurship, communications, consumer and financial markets, and foreign economic activity. — In the foreseeable future, Kuban is to become a development pole for southern Russia, and a global, sustainable, life-friendly and competitive region for sensible and intelligent people. Our main task for the near future will be to try and achieve this goal.
Mr. Altukhov stressed that the regional power is searching for the new growing points for the region’s economy. They work on the establishment of favourable conditions for development in the industrial, IT and a number of other spheres. He also called upon all public activists, business circles and governmental authorities to settle down to the implementation of the Kuban — 2030 strategy.
The participants of the conference discussed the main contemporary trends as regards formation of views on sustainable development by the example of Philip Morris Kuban, Danone and Centre Invest Bank.
